I am Sam. Sam I am.

Samantha Squeri (she/her) is a Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle Award-nominated theatre producer, director, and finance professional who is passionate about telling authentic stories that change hearts and minds and is committed to inclusion, diversity, equity, and anti-racism in her theatre practice.

Sam seeks to produce shows with casts, crews, and creative/production teams that are at the bare minimum 50% composed of historically marginalized or under-represented identities (such as race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation or preference, or ability).

Sam is dedicated to telling three-dimensional female stories on stage and always likes to apply the “Bechdel Test” to theatre.

The Bechdel Test is a measure of representation of women in fiction. To pass, a play must have (1) at least two women in it, who (2) talk to each other about (3) something besides a man.

… it shouldn’t be that hard – but only a handful of shows on Broadway actually pass.

Why invest with Sam?

Outside of Squeri Theatrical Productions, Sam is the Vice President of Production Finance for NBCUniversal’s Universal Theatrical Group (UTG) where she oversees financial activities for UTG’s Broadway, West End, and Touring productions (Wicked, Death Becomes Her, Billy Elliot, Prince of Egypt), licenses, investments, and 20+ new titles in development.

Sam’s wide range of theatre experience includes work as a producer, director, stage manager, costume designer, prop designer, box office manager, house manager, usher, and more.

Producing credits include Gypsy (Broadway, Tony nom), Suffs (Broadway, Tony nom), A Doll’s House (Broadway, Tony nom), The Kite Runner (Broadway & US Tour), Goddess (Off-Broadway), The Lonely Few (Off-Broadway), The Secret Garden (Los Angeles), A Commercial Jingle for Regina Comet (Off-Broadway), The Ravages (Theatre of NOTE), The Theatre Zone (“Together LA: A Virtual Stage Festival”), The Silence (NOTE’s “Young Writers Project”), The Last Five Years (Univ. of Notre Dame).
